Honoring Partners: A Thankful Recap of Tebow CURE’s Remarkable Year
For the past eight years, Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital of the Philippines (Tebow CURE) has been dedicated to providing quality spiritual ministry care and world-class surgical care at no cost to children with disabilities and their families in the Philippines.
This past fiscal year, Tebow CURE marked a new milestone, setting remarkable records that reflect our commitment to our mission. From July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, we achieved unprecedented growth over the previous year, with 14,752 patient visits (+116%), 1,589 admissions (+47%), 1,871 surgical procedures (+32%), 6,504 people reached (+15%), 2,592 faith expressions (+39%), and 185 clinical trainees (+110%). Our ability to achieve these milestones and impact the lives of children is, in large part, thanks to the invaluable support and generosity of our donors.
On October 5, 2023, we had the privilege of gathering 94 supporters and donors in our Partners’ Thanksgiving Banquet to express our gratitude for their compassion and generosity, bringing healing and hope to children with treatable disabilities.
To commence the event, Executive Director Peter Cowles gave a report on the hospital’s milestones and statistics for the past fiscal year and presented the annual report.
He urged the audience to become ambassadors, sharing the hospital’s story with the world. “Find a friend and talk with them about what you heard tonight about Tebow CURE, and by doing so, we will create 80 CURE ambassadors going out into the community and telling them about the work we do.”
An inspirational speaker also attended the event—former Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1985, Joyce Burton Titular. She shared the definition of success with the partners and donors, saying, “Real success is when you have the ability to help other people succeed, when you are the answer to their problems, when you supply a need they have, help them achieve their dreams, and your language is generosity. When we are our brother’s keeper, it is the right thing to do.”
She encouraged the audience that true success lies in the language of generosity. “What we are doing by partnering with Tebow CURE is the right thing to do.”
The event was also made special by patients who shared their healing journeys and testimonials.
Myrnalie, who was born with a cleft palate and underwent five surgical procedures at Tebow CURE when she was 19, shared her experience. “I was told it would be hard to navigate the procedure when you are a fully grown adult, but I’m thankful Doctor Andrew pushed through with the surgeries,” she said. “I’m so thankful for all of you, I am so thankful for the people behind Tebow CURE, and to everyone involved with this organization. I hope you will continue to support children like us that have special needs. You don’t know how much impact you have in our lives. You didn’t just heal our past; you also inspired our present and made a significant change in our future.”
Dr. Eide Amparo, Tebow CURE’s deputy director, also talked about how donor support is important in the work we do. “Whenever we see patients, it’s like taking them on a journey. The hospital is the vehicle, the doctors are the driver, but the donors, you are the fuel. You make us run. Without you, it’s me, the patient in the car, going nowhere. You make things in the hospital run. You make us take that journey for the patients.”
We want to express our sincere thanks to our partners, donors, and everyone involved in supporting Tebow CURE. The past fiscal year’s achievements are not just numbers; they represent real impact and positive change in the lives of children with disabilities.
