Comprehensive Cleft Care Now Available at Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital Thanks to Grant from Smile Train Philippines

Actual CURE patient, Alazar (age 4) before and after cleft lip and palate surgery.

DAVAO CITY, The Philippines – 22 January 2024: There is new hope for Filipino children born with a cleft lip and/or palate thanks to an expanded partnership between the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital of the Philippines in Davao City and Smile Train.

A generous grant from Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, will fully fund comprehensive cleft care for patients at the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital until the end of September 2024, meaning that parents pay nothing for their children’s care, which includes surgical procedures and long-term nutrition services, speech therapy, specialized orthodontics, and emotional support to ensure successful patient rehabilitation.

The Speech Services grant in the amount of PHP 1,500,000 is the latest in a long history of partnership between the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital and Smile Train.

Since 2021, Smile Train has provided several grants to fund many essential components of cleft care at the Tebow CURE Children’s Hospital, including the accommodation and transportation of cleft patients; the purchase of specialized cleft equipment, tools, and supplies; tuition for medical training for plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and speech therapists; and the subsidization of a cleft program manager.
